What Is the PSY Entrance? The Stage Launch Meme Explained

The PSY entrance is a stage launch. A performer waits crouched on a lift under a stadium stage, the lift fires, and they shoot up through a hatch in front of tens of thousands of people. "PSY entrance AI" means the version where an AI video model builds that entrance around the person in your photo. It is a 15-second, vertical 9:16 clip with the template's music. On Put Me In the template is called Stadium Entrance.

Where It Came From

The clip comes from a stadium concert by PSY, the singer behind Gangnam Style. Clips of his launch onto the stage go around as the PSY entrance jump, the PSY stage entrance or the PSY concert entrance. We can't confirm which show the best-known clip is from, and we only use his name to point at the trend.

The shape is easy to read in one second: a crouch in the dark under the stage, a launch, a landing in front of a sea of people, a star jump at the LED wall, CO2 jets and horse-dance hops along the stage edge. Phone editing apps later turned it into a template, so people could put themselves on that lift.

It is a different clip from the Gangnam Style Dance selfie trend: the PSY entrance takes one photo and launches you up from under the stage in front of a packed stadium, while Gangnam Style Dance takes three photos and puts three friends in a selfie on a street at night, taking turns singing to the camera.

How People Play It

The appeal is the contrast. A stadium entrance is the biggest welcome a performer can get, and it is funnier the more ordinary the person on the lift is: a dad in an apron, a coworker, a best friend on their birthday.

Most people share it as a joke or a hype clip, not as something realistic. It works as a reply to good news, a birthday post or an entrance for someone joining a group chat.
